DAVID BRACHMAN, MD, FASTRO
Cofounder
Dr Brachman was instrumental in the development of GammaTile Therapy. He is a cofounder and the chief technology officer of GT Medical Technologies, as well as an inventor on all of the company’s product patents. A nationally recognized radiation oncologist and researcher and the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. His publishing credits include The Lancet, Cancer Research, and The New England Journal of Medicine. Dr Brachman is renowned for his extensive neuro-oncology clinical expertise.
Dr Brachman recently retired from practice after more than 15 years as the chairman and medical director of the Radiation Oncology department and codirector of the GammaKnife program at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. His considerable radiation oncology background includes a position as the professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, and more than 15 years as a member of the NCI-sponsored Radiation Therapy Oncology Group CNS Tumor Steering Committee.
HEYOUNG MCBRIDE, MD, MS

Dr McBride is a board-certified radiation oncologist who serves as the medical director of Radiation Oncology at Lovelace Health System, and as a clinical associate professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and Barrow Neurological Institute. In addition to brachytherapy, Dr McBride has expertise in various forms of stereotactic radiosurgery such as GammaKnife stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).
A published author and recognized speaker, Dr McBride is a member of the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO), and American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), where she serves on the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee. Dr McBride is also a member of multiple national clinical trial groups and an active clinical researcher.
PETER NAKAJI, MD
Cofounder
Dr Nakaji is one of the leading neurosurgeons in the United States and is best known for his expertise in vascular, tumor, endoscopic, and minimally invasive neurosurgery. A pioneer in neuroendoscopy, Dr Nakaji developed the minimally invasive surgical procedure commonly referred to as the "keyhole" surgery, for trigeminal neuralgia, colloid cysts, brain tumors, and other conditions. Dr Nakaji is committed to advancing minimally invasive techniques that enable faster recoveries. As a foremost authority on the treatment of aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, skull base surgery, and brain and spinal tumors, he is often referred technically challenging cases by his colleagues.
In 2019, Dr Nakaji was appointed the executive director of the Banner University Medicine Neuroscience Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He also serves as the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Banner for the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Phoenix.
EMAD YOUSSEF, MD
Cofounder
Board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology, Dr Youssef serves as an associate professor in the Neuroradiation Oncology department at Barrow Neurological Institute and the University of Arizona. In 2017, Dr Youssef was assigned as the medical director of Radiosurgery at Barrow.
During his career, Dr Youssef has extensively researched and published papers on the use of radiation therapy to treat brain tumors. Over the last 10 years, he has treated thousands of patients with different brain tumors using various modalities of radiation therapy and radiosurgery including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), GammaKnife, CyberKnife, and brachytherapy.
Previously, Dr Youssef served as the medical director at the Arkansas Cancer Institute and as an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine.
THERESA THOMAS, MS, CCRC
Cofounder
Certified through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), Ms Thomas is the program coordinator for Radiation Oncology at Barrow Neurological Institute. Ms Thomas serves on the Brain Steering Committee and as a co-chair for the Protocol Support Committee at NRG Oncology. Previously, Ms Thomas was the director of Research at Arizona Oncology Services. A published author and well known to the NRG Oncology brain tumor community, she has more than 32 years of research experience.
